SOLVING
THE VOIP GATEKEEPER "TROMBONE EFFECT"
A
unified messaging company required an innovative VoIP architecture
to remove latency inherent to its network system design. Working
with the customer's hardware, software, and network partners,
Sigpro defined a system architecture to enable real-time telephony
where it had previously been impossible.
Customer
Requirement
A rapid-growth start-up required VoIP design expertise to
remove packet latency in its existing telephony application.
The solution required a system architecture perspective that
accounted for the hardware platform, the system and application
software, and the network services to successfully address
and resolve the issue(s).
Sigpro
Approach
- Redesign
the network architecture and decouple the system software
from the hardware platform design to produce a multi-cast
IP system to meet latency requirements.
- Drive
discussions and solutions with all appropriate vendors (hardware,
software, and network service) and internal customer team.
- Define
a laboratory test environment (equipment, software, and
test procedures) to validate the solution with all third-party
components.
Key
Results:
- Sigpro's
design enabled customer to overcome latencies that were
preventing real-time communication.
- The
customer's voice messaging application became viable for
beta product launch.
-
Based on its valuable intellectual property, the customer
was acquired by a major Internet service provider.
